5 dead in murder-suicide on Long Island – Crime Online

On Sunday, five people were apparently killed in a murder-suicide in a home on Long Island.

Nassau County police have not yet released the names of the victims, Newsday reported, but said a man found dead on the front lawn “shot himself.”

Records show that 95-year-old Theresa Martha DeLucia was the last person to live in the house. She died and was buried on Friday, Newsday reported.

Real estate agent Mary Macaluso said she would meet with DeLucia’s children at the house to discuss the sale.

One of the children “asked me to come over and meet with them to give them an idea of what they should do with the house before they put it up for sale and everything else,” Macaluso said.

The meeting was scheduled for Sunday afternoon to accommodate two of the siblings who had traveled from Florida for the funeral, but when she arrived at around 12:30 p.m., she found the street blocked off by police.

Police later said they responded to a 911 call about gunshots shortly before noon.

“Upon arrival, Second District Police observed a man outside the home who appeared to have inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” a press release said. “Further investigation revealed that four additional deceased victims were discovered inside the home.”

Police have not released any further information, but neighbors speculated that one of DeLucia’s sons – who lived in the home with her – could be the culprit, WPIX reported.

“I think he just freaked out,” Wendy Paisner said. “He’s one of four siblings… they wanted to sell the house and he’s lived there his whole life. He really needed support.”
