But a new study shows that the pursuit of beauty can come at a high price – and not just financially. Research that analyzed and ranked the most dangerous cosmetic surgeries has revealed alarming complication rates that can make even the most determined patients think twice about going under the knife.
Eye color change surgery: A risky vision for beauty
At the top of the list of dangerous procedures is Surgery to change eye colorwith a horrifying complication rate of 92.30%. This controversial procedure, which is not yet FDA approved, carries significant risks, including vision loss, glaucoma, and corneal damage. With recovery times of one to eight weeks and an average cost of $12,000, Overnight Glasses survey researchers say patients are literally gambling with their eyesight.
Thigh lift and Brazilian butt lift: beauty at what price?
In second place on the danger scale are Thigh liftswith a complication rate of 78%. This procedure, which aims to shape the legs, carries the risk of blood clots, infections and altered skin sensitivity. The Brazilian butt liftwhich ranks third with a complication rate of 37.94%, has become feared not only because of its popularity but also because of its high risk of fat embolism and other serious complications.
Body transformations: A heavy toll on health
Body lifting Interventions rank fourth with a complication rate of 42%. Breast reduction ranks sixth with 38%. Interestingly, the study found that breast reductions have twice the complication rate as Breast augmentation procedureswhich ranks eighth with a complication rate of 14.40%.
Quick solutions are not always safe
Injectable fillersoften considered a “lunchtime operation,” surprisingly ranks fifth due to a high complication rate of 64.61%. While the recovery time is short – only one to two days – the frequency of complications such as allergic reactions and asymmetry is worrying.

The top 10 are rounded off by Butt implants (21.60% complication rate), Arm raises (21.00%) and Breast lift (10.40%). Each of these procedures carries its own risks, from implant displacement to nerve damage and changes in sensation.
