It’s a game! It’s a play! It’s an experiment in building a real connection with the audience, testing the boundaries of intimacy and the roots of performance. And Carl Holder’s remarkable new solo show, Out Of Order, comes to the Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill for eight performances only, August 29-September 8.
Originally designed to be performed in the audience’s living room, Out Of Order offers an up close and personal experience like you’ve never had in a theater before – one that will leave you speechless, moved and close to tears, if not laughing your head off. 50 index cards with written
Instructions on them are placed in a container. Some contain characters, stories, confessions; others encourage group activities involving the audience. At each performance, Carl selects one card at a time and carries out the instructions written on it in the order the universe dictates. So no two
Performances are always the same. And true to the play’s initial creative impulse, Bridge Street Theatre will present Out Of Order in the cozy confines of its speakeasy lobby area, with couches and chairs scattered throughout and Carl performing in and around the audience. PLEASE NOTE
NOTE: Due to the intimate nature of the piece (and the venue itself), audience members will be in close proximity to both the performer and their own inner selves. Prepare accordingly.
“Out Of Order” will be performed Thursdays through Sundays from August 29th through September 8th, 2024. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday performances begin at 2:00 p.m. Seating is limited and all seats are non-reserved.
