CHASKA, Minnesota. – The 2024 U.S. Amateur begins on Monday, August 12, and the Duke men’s golf program has a total of five representatives – including four members of the 2024-25 team.

This year’s championship, the 124th running of the event, will be played at Hazeltine National Golf Club and will be co-hosted by the Chaska Town Course, a stroke play course. The senior debuted in the PGA TOUR University preseason top-25 rankings in late July and is competing in a U.S. Amateur for the third consecutive year.

Evans finished his 2023-24 collegiate season on a strong note, earning an individual berth in the NCAA Championship after a runner-up finish at the Baton Rouge Regional. The junior made four starts in the Elite Amateur Golf Series events this summer, earning a top-25 finish in all four events, with his 9-under-par fifth-place finish of 271 at the Sunnehanna Amateur being the highlight. The Mercer Island, Washington, native is making his first start in the U.S. Amateur.

Kim is one of only 11 USGA champions in the 2024 field after winning the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur and one of only 13 competitors who also played in the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 earlier this summer. The sophomore is competing in the U.S. Amateur for the third year in a row, along with teammate Sample.

Love posted three top-10 finishes during his injury-shortened sophomore season and capped his play this summer with a tied fifth-place finish at 7-under-par, 281 strokes at the Georgia Amateur Championship. He is making his third U.S. Amateur appearance.

Smith was a two-time All-American while at Duke University before graduating in 2006. His first win as a professional came in 2010, when he won the 2010 WNB Golf Classic on the Nationwide Tour by two strokes.

The U.S. Amateur begins with two rounds of stroke play, played on August 12 and 13. Golfers will play one round at Hazeltine National and one round at Chaska Town to determine their 36-hole stroke play score. The field will be reduced to 64 players, and a playoff will be held if necessary to bring the draw to exactly 64 golfers. Once the draw is finalized, match play will begin on August 14, with all play to be played at Hazeltine National.

Fans can follow live scores from the event on the USGA website. Television coverage will begin during play, starting with one hour of streaming on Peacock (5-6 p.m.), followed by two hours on Golf Channel (6-8 p.m.) on each of the first three days of play.
