London’s Gatwick Airport is one of several locations continuing to experience travel delays following the recent global IT outage.
Although technical systems have now been restored, many airports around the world are still experiencing disruptions as staff work hard to resume normal operations despite hundreds of delayed flights.
This comes as the airport prepares for its busiest summer in several years, seeing an influx of jet-setting travelers from around the world.
“This summer, passengers can choose between 56 airlines flying to 223 destinations, including 169 short-haul destinations in a large European network and 51 long-haul connections,” said an airport spokesman.
“New routes recently opened include short-haul flights to Gothenburg (Sweden), Vagar (Faroe Islands), Ponta Delgada (Azores, Portugal) and Salerno (Italy), which started on July 13.”
Although strikes planned for July have now been put on hold, it appears that Gatwick staff are now working around the clock to restart operations after a busy few days.
