Focus Features re-releases Shaun of the Dead for the 20th anniversary of the Edgar Wright Zombie Fest

Edgar Wright’s cult classic horror comedy Shaun of the Dead will return to theaters across the U.S. in late summer when Focus Features reissues Edgar Wright’s film to mark its 20th anniversary.

From 29 August Shaun of the Dead will play exclusively in Dolby Cinema at AMC theaters for a limited time. The zombie film will be completely remastered with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for an even better experience that highlights subtle details, ultra-vivid colors and immersive sound.

“Twenty years ago, the worldwide release of Shaun of the Dead changed my life forever. The reception has been incredible ever since, thanks in large part to the passionate fans who fought for it with cricket bats raised. Now, as we celebrate its bloody 20th anniversary with a brand new version remastered in Dolby Atmos and Vision, I’m so excited for everyone to experience it again on the big screen – the way it was always meant to be seen: big, loud and with quite a bit of red,” Wright said.

Focus Features has released a new film poster and an anniversary trailer (see below). The independent film distributor is launching a Shaun of the Dead Anniversary pop-up today at Comic-Con.

Shaun of the Dead First hit the big screen in 2004, it quickly became a cultural phenomenon and secured its place in the annals of horror comedy history. The film, directed by Wright and co-written by Simon Pegg, who also stars alongside Nick Frost, has since gained a loyal following.

Universal Pictures International will Shaun of the Dead In cinemas in the UK and Ireland from 27 September, available in Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos.
