Absolute Power No. 2: Things are moving

Absolute power has only been out for two issues, but it already feels special. This has been an exciting summer for DC fans, and there are big things coming soon that stem from this event, but Absolute power should not be seen as just a taste of what is to come. Mark Waid and Dan Mora are the perfect team to lead this event. Mora has quickly become one of the best and most exciting artists working today. Alejandro Sanchez works absolute magic with Mora’s pencil drawings, giving them a cinematic feel. This issue is packed with so many characters and Mora seems to give them all the same attention and detail, which is much appreciated.

Dan Mora’s attention to detail and Mark Waid’s masterful writing style come together in this edition of Absolute power. It seems that so many characters get their big moment, which is always welcome in a book with so many characters. If these moments ever make it to the big screen, they would no doubt earn applause and cheers in the theater. Mora has proven he can handle a huge cast of characters. There are obvious mainstays in this series, but Mora really seems to put equal effort into each character, regardless of how much they feature in this issue. This issue deals with an assault on the Fortress of Solitude, and the entire issue feels like the culmination of an epic saga, even though it’s all just beginning. This creative team is setting the stage for something monumental, and it’s only just begun.
