Aaron Henry Fleck was born on January 9, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Charles and Ada Fleck. Aaron’s remarkable life spanned over a century and was marked by resilience, achievement, compassion, inspiration, and an enduring enthusiasm for learning.

Growing up during the Great Depression, Aaron saw his parents embody the spirit of charity and service to others – values that also shaped him. As a child of the Great Depression, he also learned the values of hard work, determination, and perseverance. Aaron’s service in the U.S. Army during World War II was a humbling experience that only reinforced these values.

Aaron has had a distinguished professional career that began with his work as a respected workers’ compensation attorney before launching a successful career as an investment advisor and investor after his retirement in Sarasota, Florida.

In 1960, Aaron married the love of his life, Barbara Gwen Orbits, and together they embarked on a journey full of love and adventure – the most fulfilling of which was being parents to their three beautiful daughters, Kathryn, Lisa and Pam. Together, Aaron and Barbara traveled the world, often with their dear friends, the Belkins, creating memories that spanned continents and enriched their lives.

In the 1980s, they bought a home in Aspen, Colorado and moved there permanently in 2002.
Aaron was enamored with the natural beauty and vibrant community of the area. He took great joy in watching his wife and children ski and explore the stunning hiking and biking trails. Aaron founded a men’s group in Aspen where he led lively discussions on everything from economics and investing to anti-Semitism and war. Aaron’s only requirements of his participants were respect and open-mindedness. Aaron’s sharp mind and full capabilities remained with him until his final days, reflecting the vitality and curiosity that characterized his long and fulfilling life.

Aaron’s legacy lives on through his three daughters Kathryn (Harry), Lisa (Bruce) and Pam, his six grandchildren Bryan, Lindsay, Grant, Grace, Remi and Chloe, his two step-grandchildren Lauren (Patrick) and Kiki (Max), and his two great-grandchildren Juliette and Etta.

To honor and commemorate Aaron’s extraordinary life and the profound impact he had on those around him, a memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, at 1 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center – Chabad of Aspen.

The family will sit shiva Monday and Tuesday at Aaron and Barbara’s home in Aspen Glen, 151 Sundance Trail, Carbondale, CO 81623. Guests will be received beginning at 5 p.m. Prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Aaron left a lasting impression on people and communities around the world, and his memory and values will live on forever in all those he influenced and inspired until the end.

Some of Aaron’s favorite charities were: Brandeis University, Jas Aspen Snowmass, National Jewish, and Americans for Ben Gurion University.
