Huckberry Weekender Sunglasses Review

As a teenager, my family drove to the beach every summer – and it was a hell of a long way (South Carolina by way of Michigan). Almost every year I lost a pair of sunglasses, which resulted in at least one spontaneous stop at a beach discount store to buy a pair of sunglasses that inevitably ended up in the ocean as well. As an adult, I’ve invested in more expensive glasses, but despite their higher price, I still end up losing them.

Now I’ve found a happy medium with Huckberry’s $39 Weekender sunglasses, and honestly, I like them a lot better than the $100+ pairs I used to have. And the best part? I love them so much I haven’t lost them.

The Weekenders sunglasses are part of the in-house line of Huckberry branded items, like the fan-favorite Explorer’s Cap, Summer Camp t-shirts, and trucker hats. Each pair of sunglasses has a classic yet modern vibe, but feels sturdy enough to actually go on adventures while wearing them. As we roll into the dog days of summer, I keep reaching for my Huckberry Weekender sunglasses. They’re an essential part of my everyday gear and almost defy the notion of what a budget-friendly pair of sunglasses can be.

There are a variety of sunglasses with the Huckberry name, but the Weekender is a Wayfarer-inspired design that’s easy to dress up or down. Note: The tortoiseshell colorway is $45 instead of $39, but is definitely worth the $6 upgrade.

Like I said, this isn’t just a pretty face. The Weekenders have a durable design that can take a beating – from the beach to the bar and back – and polarized lenses block out glare and hot summer sun without breaking a sweat. I also appreciate that the temples cover the hinges, so you don’t have to worry about damaging them if you’re not extra careful.

Huckberry says that these sunglasses have a good fit, so you can walk along the beach and climb a rocky shore without the sunglasses falling off, and I’ve found that to be true. They fit snugly enough to stay in place, but are still comfortable and won’t leave marks on your skin even after extended wear.

Spend the rest of the summer—and every other season—with a pair or pairs of sunglasses that combine three qualities: affordability, versatility, and style. The good folks at Huckberry certainly believe that.
