You can now order oat latte from the bottle with your milk round

Vegan brand Oato has announced the launch of a new bottled oat latte drink with British dairy company Modern Milkman.

The drink, called Caffè Latte by Oato, is a blend of Oato’s fresh oat drink and coffee, as well as vanilla and caramel flavours. Oato is made in Lancashire and uses 100 per cent British oats and filtered water.

Oato specialises in fresh oat milk. One of the company’s unique selling points is that the product comes in traditional glass bottles reminiscent of milk bottles. Earlier this year, the brand also launched fresh oat milk in a cow’s milk style carton at Waitrose.

Although Modern Milkman is not a vegan company, it has previously worked with Oato to supply dairy-free alternatives across the UK, and the latest latte offering joins the growing collection, which also includes strawberry oat milk and chocolate oat milk.

“At Oato, we’re constantly developing new flavours with our classic fresh Oato,” Oato founder Carl Hopwood said in a statement. “Since our launch in 2019, we’ve been praised for our taste alongside coffee. We wanted a ready-to-drink oat latte for our long-standing customers on the UK’s Modern Milkman dairy circuit.”

Demand for oat milk in the UK

Dairy-free milk is becoming increasingly popular in the UK, with oat milk being the most popular variety, overtaking almond milk in 2021.

An estimated 20 percent of Brits drink oat milk. Oat milk is not only a popular alternative for vegans and lactose-free people, but is also very popular with meat eaters and vegetarians, if only for its taste. Oat milk is known for its creamy taste, which is often said to go well with tea and coffee.

The fact that oat milk is available in milk rounds shows how well established it has become. Modern Milkman says the collaboration with Oato is in line with its mission to “deliver fresh, sustainable and delicious products directly to our customers’ doorsteps.”
