Kehlani reportedly files for restraining order, ex claims he is the victim

It was only a week ago that Kehlani and her ex/daughter’s father, Javaughn Young-White, took to social media to say they were keeping details and updates about their “legal, personal and family matters” private from the public. But now, new court documents have surfaced, along with alleged evidence, in which both parties have accused each other of abuse and more.

On Tuesday (13 August) TMZ reported that Kehlani filed a restraining order against Young-White because he called her a “bitch” and a “liar” and said they had lured him into a trap.

Page Six Court documents were obtained and it was reported that the singer admitted that Young-White had been abusive to him for years, but she decided to file for a restraining order in mid-June after he allegedly became “enraged” and “bashed down her locked bedroom doors in a fit of rage.” At the time, he was reportedly staying at the singer’s home with Kehlani and their five-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi.

The dispute arose because the “After Hours” singer allegedly questioned why he was applying for welfare. While living with them, Young-White allegedly “smoked marijuana all day, every day” and used psychedelics, according to the documents. They also accused him of “disappearing” for long periods of time and lacking “personal hygiene and self-care.”

The lawsuit states: “When he takes our daughter into his care, she is returned dirty and reeking of marijuana.” Describing his behavior, the singer writes: “He is not well emotionally and appears to suffer from periods of despair and often tirades of uncontrollable anger and rage. When agitated, he cannot keep still and throws his arms in the air while yelling and screaming at me, often throwing objects and calling me horrible names.”

However, if TMZ’s report, Kehlani released a statement on Instagram that read: “I have not made any statement nor have I said TMZ about my business.”

Young-White later accused the singer of “portraying her abuse as mine.” He then shared alleged text messages in which he said he “begged” to be left alone because “I knew what you were up to.”

The 27-year-old said he “cut off contact with (Kehlani) last month because she was abusive and she claims to have abused her when she is scared.” He feels that private conversations with Kehlani “pose a threat to (his) safety because of her ability to lie.”

He also shared that he spoke to Kehlani’s ex-girlfriend Kiara Russell and said that infidelity on the singer’s part led to their breakup. Young-White also accused Kehlani of “claiming rape and abuse when she has nothing else to hold on to.” He later said he was “lied to” and “manipulated” for years, noting that when he tried to “leave for good,” he was rebuffed “with violence and anti-black attitudes.”

Per TMZA judge signed the temporary restraining order. The singer was also granted sole custody of their daughter until a hearing on September 3rd.
