The order in which you read Colleen Hoover’s individual books depends on your preferences.

To be clear, there is no correct order in which to read Colleen’s standalone novels. The bestselling author has written several different series (which should be read in order), but the rest of her novels are standalone novels, which makes them a little easier to get into. For those who aren’t ready to read two or three of the author’s books, here is a list of her standalone novels in the order they were published (though you don’t necessarily have to read them in that order).

Individual novels by Colleen Hoover:

  • Ugly Love
  • Confess
  • 9 November
  • Too late
  • Never Never
  • Without merit
  • Truth
  • I regret you
  • Heart bones
  • Layla
  • Memories of him

All of these novels were published between 2012 and 2020, and there’s no real order in which to read them, as they’re each independent stories that don’t require any additional context to understand. The best way to figure out which of these novels you want to read first is to read reviews and excerpts and see which premise interests you the most.

How to read Colleen Hoover’s series.

There are four different series that Colleen has published throughout her career. The shortest, the It ends (and begins) with us Duology, is probably the most recent, given the publication of the It ends with us film, but there are others you can dive into if you don’t want to deal with a domestic violence story.

The It ends (and begins) with us Colleen is probably best known for her duology. The first part follows the strange love triangle between Ryle, Lily, and Lily’s ex Atlas before focusing on the story’s main romance. Here’s the (counter-intuitive) order you should read these books in:

  • It ends with us
  • It starts with us

The hopeless saga is the longest series Colleen has written to date, and while the reading order may seem a little confusing due to the different perspectives and characters, it is technically a series. The first two books tell the love story between teenagers Sky and Dean as the couple struggles with a dark past and the difficulties of public school. The story then switches to a love story between Six and Daniel before moving on to the adult marriage between Quinn and Graham.

All of these stories are ultimately brought together in the final book, which picks up the threads of all of these relationships and leads to a resounding finale. Here is the order in which you can read the Hopeless Saga:

  • Hopeless
  • Losing hope
  • Cinderella finds
  • All your perfect
  • Find perfect
