  • A dentist in Knoxville, Tennessee, who was filmed laughing at a cancer patient’s diary has broken her silence with a heartless TikTok.

Kelsey Pollard came under heavy criticism after a video went viral in which she sat on the floor and laughed while a colleague from the dentist’s office made fun of a cancer patient’s medical records by reading them out loud.

Pollard, who works at Premier Dental Group in Knoxville, has now posted an angry response to the backlash in a TikTok video – although her account has since been made private.

On the TikTok, Pollard showed a peace sign and the caption: “When you go viral for being a piece of sh*t.”

She then walks to an outdoor trash can and jumps in while cheerful music plays in the background.

Her callous, smug response was uploaded to the Libs of TikTok X account, which claims Pollard has “two sides” to the story.

Before her account was made private, Pollard apparently uploaded a video response to a user’s comment that said, “This should be a reason to go to jail,” but the video is no longer publicly available and it is unclear what she had to say.

In the original video, captured on Snapchat, staff can be seen laughing at the patient’s thoughts on different treatment options and concerns about various procedures.

Knoxville-based Premier Dental Group posted an apology on Facebook, acknowledging the “inappropriate video created and shared by some of our employees that treated an individual’s medical condition in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner.”

However, the practice’s profile disappeared shortly after the statement was published.

“We deeply regret this incident and the pain it caused,” the practice wrote in the now-deleted apology, according to WBIR.

The group was aware of the seriousness of the situation and stated that it was conducting investigations.

“We take this matter very seriously. We have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and are taking immediate action to resolve the issue. The affected employees have been contacted and we are reviewing our internal policies and training procedures to ensure that such an incident does not occur again.”

Some took to social media to sharply criticize this practice.

“It’s pretty disturbing that these girls found this funny, and considering they handle patients’ private information DAILY,” one wrote, “so there’s no telling what they do with everyone else’s personal information.”

This was not the first controversy for Premier Dental Group of Knoxville.

In 2023, the practice agreed to pay about $1 million to settle a lawsuit alleging fraud in the state of Tennessee’s Medicaid program and potential endangerment of patients through unqualified staff and unnecessary procedures, KVUE reported.
