After Shock and Mirapakay, Raviteja and Harish Shankar have teamed up for the third time and released Mr Bachchan, a remake of the 2018 Hindi film Raid. Bhagyashri Borse, Jagapathi Babu, Tanikella Bharani, Satya, Sachin Khedekar and others played important roles in the film. Has Harish Shankar delivered another successful film with a remake? Read the detailed review to find out.

Story:

Mr. Bachchan (Raviteja), a tax officer, gets suspended right after a raid on the house of a high-ranking businessman and moves to his native village where he falls in love with Jikki (Bhagyashri Borse), a girl from a Marwari family living in Andhra Pradesh. One fine day, Bachchan gets a call from one of his superiors asking him to resume his duties as soon as possible and conduct a tax raid on the house of Muthyam Jagayya (Jagapathi Babu), a member of parliament and a very powerful politician. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Ravi Teja was quite good in his role. There is not much to say about his performance. Bhagyashri Borse looked good and confident in her Telugu debut on screen. She danced well in all the four songs. However, she may need to improve her acting skills quickly. Satya’s comedy worked in a few scenes. Chammak Chandra’s comedy was irritating. The film has so many experienced actors but none of them could make a significant impact due to poorly written characters.

Technical details:

All four songs and the background score by Mickey J Meyer are good. Ayananka Bose’s cinematography and People Media Factory’s production quality are fine. Ujwal Kulkarni’s editing could have been better. At least 20 minutes of unnecessary sequences should have been cut out in both halves of the film.

Thumbs up:

Songs
Bhagyashri Bags Glamour
Cameo appearance by Siddu Jonnalagadda

Thumbs down:

Outdated dialogues
Uninteresting script
Bad direction
Bad comedy

Analysis:

The original Hindi film Ride is a crime action drama but here in Telugu, Harish Shankar made many changes to over-commercialize the script but he largely failed. Screenplay, dialogues and comedy sequences were poorly written and were poorly executed except for two or three sequences. Harish Shankar is known for presenting the female lead in his films in a very sensual manner and in Mr. Bachchan too he presented Bhagyashri Borse very well, especially in songs. Overall, he delivered a dated and below average performance.

Conclusion: Lost In Translation

Rating: 2/5
