This flight safety shows what it would be like to fly with Pokémon

Don’t tell the airlines, but I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t pay much attention to airline safety demonstrations and videos. They’re just rather repetitive and a bit dry, but that might change if I’m lucky enough to fly over Japan. All Nippon Airways and The Pokémon Company released a themed airline safety video on Thursday featuring Pokémon like Pikachu, Jigglypuff and others. Equal parts cute and informative, it’s the perfect way to learn how to stay safe.

The video is in Japanese and English and features a sign language interpreter. It covers the usual flight safety information, such as when to fasten your seatbelt, how to inflate a life jacket, and what to do in the event of an emergency landing. It’s pretty standard stuff, except that 3D animated Pokémon demonstrate all the guidelines. A press release from The Pokémon Company says the goal of the video is to provide a presentation on flight safety that people of all ages “will want to watch.”

My personal favorite part of the video is when a Farfetch’d shows us how to fill up the overhead bin by placing a giant leek next to the regular luggage, but there are plenty of other cute moments. Machoke – whose waist somehow fits perfectly into an airplane seat – buckles up when he’s seated in case of turbulence. Greedent drops a bunch of berries, blocking the aisle. Additionally, the video confirms that Lucario is the type of Pokémon that travels with its seat fully reclined.
