The KFC Yum! Center is cleaned with a high-pressure cleaning drone

Can you wash a car with a pressure washer? I’m asking for a friend. I think the answer is no. I guess it’s the same with car washing. But how do you wash the outside of a 700,000 square foot arena?

I have seen houses being pressure washed, but they were mostly one-story or ranch-type buildings. I didn’t know that larger houses or large buildings could be pressure washed. And again, a very large building, an arena, was pressure washed for the very first time: the KFC Yum! Center in Downtown Louisville. Check it out!

That’s mind-blowing. And the other shocking thing is that the Yum! Center’s exterior has never been washed like this since it opened in 2010. Yes, it’s been washed, but never as expertly as this; conventional methods can’t cover every inch, and 103,968,000 square inches is a lot.

Here are some facts about the inside of the arena that we all know and love:

  • Seating

The arena has 22,090 seats for basketball, making it the largest arena in the United States designed primarily for basketball. It can also accommodate up to 23,000 people for concerts.

  • records

The arena’s record attendance for a sporting event is 22,815, set in 2013 at a men’s basketball game against Notre Dame. The record attendance for an event is 23,085, set in 2019 at a Metallica concert. On June 8, 2024, the arena hosted the highest-grossing U.S. UFC Fight Night of all time, with 19,578 fans in attendance and $2,500,652 in revenue.

  • Other features

The arena features a 40,000-pound center-hung scoreboard, 130 miles of power lines, 322 miles of electrical wiring and 9,000 light fixtures. There are also eight bars and lounges, four conference rooms and a large outdoor plaza with views of the city.

Last year, it was reported that the facility had generated nearly a billion dollars in economic revenue in less than a decade. A notable event last year was Morgan Wallen’s show in April, which recorded the highest ticket sales ever.

Funny and familiar family phrases, but do other Kentucky residents use them?
