The two world stars have been praising each other for years in the run-up to their new collaboration
Lisa and Rosalía have taken the internet by storm with their new collaboration “New Woman.” The song was co-written with Tove Lo and is part of the Blackpink star’s new solo music.
In the song’s surreal music video, the two are intertwined, seemingly presenting different sides of the same prismatic coin. “Hit when I serve/Bitch, you better get out of the way/I get my aura going/Focus on my mind/I take my time/I’m a new woman,” Lisa explains in the song’s chorus.
Always exuding coolness and clad in a sheer, airy outfit, Rosalía sings: “I hit hard/It comes across as really confident/I boost my aura/I’m focused, not under pressure.”
The couple have been teasing the song on social media all week, sharing snippets of the video and photos of them together. They seem to have wanted to work together for many years: In a 2022 interview, Rosalía made it clear that she is a huge fan of the Korean rapper. “I love Lisa. I’m a fan of hers,” she said. “For me, she’s just amazing. She dances so well and is so talented.”
Lisa also raved about Rosalía in her interview with Rolling Stone the same year. “Rosalía is so cool. She has her own Spanish culture that is in her personality and influences her music,” she said. “I’m curious to see how much I can expand what I do. In terms of music and dance, I feel like I still have more to learn.”
For Lisa, “New Woman” follows “Rockstar,” the clubby single she released in June that is her first solo release outside the group in three years. She has been teasing an album under her new deal with RCA Records. Meanwhile, this is Rosalía’s first single this year, although she has been teasing more music on social media recently. Her third album Motomamiwhich won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy, was released in 2022. She also released a collaboration with Björk and a joint EP with her ex-boyfriend Rauw Alejandro in 2023.
