“Scarlet Witch” No. 6 introduces Wanda’s new protégé

This November, a young sorceress follows in the footsteps of Marvel’s greatest mystical hero!

Amaranthcreated by superstar artist Jen Bartel for last year’s New Champions variant cover program, will debut in the universe in SCARLET WITCH #6. Writer Steve Orlando and artist Lorenzo Tammetta will introduce the character as a former protégé of Agatha Harkness who now seeks Wanda’s help to uncover her dark past and control her emerging magical gifts. Amaranth is the latest new champion to have his story told in the pages of a comic book, with more to come in the coming months!

Today, fans can see Amaranth on three brand new covers of SCARLET WITCH #6, including the main cover by Russell Dauterman which also features Agatha, a foil cover by Meghan Hetrick, a stunning piece by Iván Talavera, and a variant cover by Leirix which will also be available as a pristine variant cover.

Introducing Amaranth! The Scarlet Witch takes on a mysterious new student at the request of Agatha Harkness. But where does the young sorceress named Amaranth come from? And what could have made Agatha give up the chance to be her mentor?

“I’ve been fascinated by Amaranth ever since she debuted on Jen Bartel’s beautiful alternate cover,” Orlando said. “Who was she? What was her story – no, her secret? So when the opportunity arose to bring her into SCARLET WITCH and explore those questions with the rest of the creative team, I jumped at the chance.”

“Bringing Amaranth through the final door gives us a chance to turn Wanda’s dynamic on its head with a scenario where Wanda is confronted with a powerful, mysterious entity she struggles to understand – the opposite of her own dynamic earlier in her life,” he continued. “Amaranth’s unique gifts suggest an auspicious lineage and impressive power, but her life has been marked by tragedy. There may be no one in the Marvel Universe who can help her, but if there was, it would be the Scarlet Witch.”
