Laura Seed bought this apartment two months ago after her divorce for herself and her two rescue cats. “Since it was my first apartment since being single, I decided to go for my first apartment and live my best single life (think: Sex and the City “Vibes). I moved to a new city after falling in love with this loft – and since I moved in two months ago, I’ve made it my own,” explains Laura.
She describes this loft – a 500-square-foot one-bedroom apartment she shares with her cats Boris and Weenie – as a safe space. “I eat here, work here and sleep here, so it was important to me that it felt like a place where I could spend endless amounts of time, feel inspired and just feel safe and happy. I feel so incredibly lucky that this is my space,” she writes.
Laura describes herself as a “colourful person who gives everything to life and I think that is reflected in my home.” Her house in Preston, England, is full of colour, plants, prints and second-hand furniture. Lighting is very important to her, so there are also some neon signs for mood lighting and ambience.
It’s very different from all the other lofts in this building, which were built very uniformly, and I’m so proud to call it home. It’s a place that not only brings joy to me, but to everyone who visits. I have a pegboard where I put up Polaroids of everyone’s visits. I feel like I dress the way I decorate my home, and often I’m found that way. I think if you saw my home and then me lined up, you would know for sure that it’s mine.
Thank you, Laura!
