New Jersey weather: Thunderstorms, risk of flooding in the weekend forecast, but no precipitation. Latest updates.

Although the New Jersey weather forecast does not call for rain this weekend, your outdoor plans could be impacted by multiple thunderstorms and heavy downpours in the late afternoon and evening on both Saturday and Sunday.

“This weekend will be unsettled as showers and some thunderstorms increase at times, particularly each afternoon and evening,” the National Weather Service said.

Additionally, those venturing onto the Jersey Shore beaches face a high risk of dangerous rip currents and rough surf as Hurricane Ernesto passes well offshore.

The forecast for Friday calls for dry, sunny weather with temperatures around 80 degrees in most parts of the state, with some places reaching 90 degrees. The weather service said there is a slight chance of scattered showers overnight.

The weather service said there was a low risk of flooding (1 on a scale of 1 to 4).

Showers and thunderstorms will persist until Monday, before the skies finally clear on Tuesday and significantly cooler weather is in sight.

Maximum temperatures of over 21 degrees are expected from Tuesday to Thursday.
