News about “Yellowstone” and a star of the series with an Oregon connection

Fans of the hit television series “Yellowstone” have had to deal with a number of disappointments recently, including the announcement that the series will end with Season 5, the long wait for the final episodes of Season 5, the news that “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner will not be joining the final episodes, and much more.

Despite all this, the Yellowstone universe is not going away, as spin-off series are popping up all the time. For example, this morning it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer will star in a Yellowstone spin-off called The Madison.

As Variety reports, the series comes from “Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan. In previous reports, this spinoff was titled “2024,” and originally rumors circulated that Matthew McConaughey would play the lead role. The story reportedly revolves around a New York family living in the Madison River Valley in Montana.

“The Madison” is the latest entry in the expanded “Yellowstone” universe and follows the previous spin-offs “1883” and “1923”.

The final episodes of “Yellowstone” will not air until November 10th on the Paramount Network. How the series will deal with the absence of Costner’s character John Dutton, patriarch of a feuding family and head of a ranching empire, is still unclear.

And for Yellowstone fans from Oregon, there is an interesting piece of local information while they wait for the series to continue: Cole Hauser, who plays fan favorite Rip Wheeler, the ranch foreman, has a connection to Oregon.

As an interview with Hauser in Men’s Journal reported, Hauser “was born on a ranch north of Santa Barbara, and among his earliest memories is learning to ride a horse. When he was four, he and his mother moved to a 1,500-acre ranch near Eugene, Oregon, and thus began a period of his youth in which he says he was happiest surrounded by animals while patrolling the pastures with his pellet gun. He describes his mother as a vagabond and a hippie, and so after a few years in Oregon, she and Hauser moved to Clearwater, Florida, a jarring transition that the actor says he “wouldn’t wish on anyone.” Not that he has anything against Florida; he, his wife and their three children currently live there.”

In an interview with the magazine “Cigar & Spirits”, Hauser also spoke about her experience as a rider, which would certainly benefit her in “Yellowstone”.

“I grew up on a ranch,” Hauser said. “I’ve been riding since I could walk. We had a pony named Cinnamon. He took me out to the country in Oregon, and my mother would ring the bell every night when the sun went down, and Cinnamon would bring me back. He’d put his head down and I’d slide down his neck. That was the beginning, and then I rode until I was probably 11. Then I stopped and did sports and other things. Eventually I started again. It’s like riding a bike. You remember.”
