Air Canada will return to Baltimore in 2025; flights from Toronto will begin in May and will be offered daily.

Return to Baltimore

Air Canada is Canada’s largest airline and operates the most cross-border flights between the United States (US) and Canada. According to Cirium, Air Canada operates over 10,000 flights a month between the two countries, representing about a third of the market share. The last time the airline operated a flight to Baltimore was in April of this year, but it will fly there again in May 2025.

As Ishrion Aviation announced on X (formerly Twitter), Air Canada will resume operations to Baltimore in May next year. The first flight from Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport will take place on May 1, with the return flight the following day. Jazz, which operates regional flights on behalf of Air Canada, will use its Bombardier CRJ-900s, which can carry 76 passengers, on this route.

Cirium data is only available through July 2025 and shows that Air Canada will operate the route daily. Nearly 5,000 round-trip seats are available each month, and from May to July the total is 13,908. During this period, Air Canada plans to operate 183 round-trip flights.

The last time a scheduled Air Canada flight landed at BWI was on April 1 of this year. The flight originated from Toronto and the route has historically been served year-round. The route was served continuously starting in May 2022 and Air Canada briefly connected Montreal to Baltimore in June 2022 and ended flights in early July 2022. Simple Flying contacted the airline for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Serving other airports in Washington

Although Air Canada has not served Baltimore for several months, the company already offers flights to two other nearby airports, Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Data from January to July 2025 shows that Air Canada connects Montreal and Toronto to Dulles, and Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa to DCA. Between the two US airports, Air Canada offers more than 600 monthly round-trip flights.

The busiest route from Canada to the Washington DC area is from Toronto to DCA, with an average of four round-trip flights daily. Jazz and the 76-seat CRJ-900s also serve these flights. The flight to DCA, at 359 miles, is only 12 miles longer than the flight to BWI. Air Canada can carry nearly 20,000 passengers on this route each month.

The second most frequent route is from Montreal to DCA, with an average of three round trips per day. From January to July, Air Canada has scheduled more than 1,200 round trips, with nearly 100,000 seats available during this period. As on the other two routes mentioned above, Jazz uses the CRJ-900 on this route.
