Air traffic is slowly recovering after suffering significant disruption on Friday as a result of a global IT outage that affected airlines around the world, causing delays and some cancellations. Long queues formed at Manchester Airport after check-in and boarding had to be handled manually.
The outage coincided with one of the busiest weekends of the year, with thousands of families flying on holiday as many schools closed on Friday. The airport said yesterday that “all airlines are operating as normal”.
As the outage shows, it’s important to keep an eye on the status of your flight, as last-minute delays and cancellations can occur. Today, there are still a few flights that are canceled or delayed.
