Further strong to severe storms are possible in Alabama both today and Sunday.
Rain or storms won’t be everywhere, but where there is rain, the National Weather Service says it could be heavy, with damaging wind gusts that can knock down trees and power lines. Heavy rain is also possible.
Severe storms downed trees and knocked out power in parts of northeast Alabama on Friday, according to weather service reports.
According to NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center, all of northern and most of central Alabama is under a Level 1 of 5 (minor) risk of severe weather today (today’s forecast is at the top of this post).
A low risk means isolated severe storms are possible. Storms are most likely to occur in the afternoon or evening.
There could be a few more storms on Sunday and the Storm Prediction Center is issuing a Level 2 (low) storm risk for parts of southern and central Alabama:
In areas marked yellow there is a level 2 out of 5 storm risk on Sunday, and in areas marked dark green there is a level 1 risk.SPC
A level 2 risk means that isolated severe storms are possible.
The Level 1 danger also applies in large parts of the rest of the state on Sunday.

The heat index, or perceived temperature, could reach as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius) in parts of southern and western Alabama today.

Hang in there. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected across parts of northern and central Alabama starting Monday, with highs expected to be between 27 and 32 degrees.
However, southern Alabama is likely to remain hotter.
