A man has become famous on the internet for his completely colorless bedroom, but he has explained the reasons behind it.
From the plain white walls to the gray carpet, there are no splashes of color in his room.
In his viral video, TikTok user Anto (@antoshurigin) gave his followers a virtual tour of his bedroom.
He explained that people often think he’s crazy because of his decorating style, but revealed the reason behind his choice.
“I live in a black and white filter in real life,” the TikToker joked in the caption of his clip.
He shared that he chose the simple decor because he suffers from color phobia.
Anto described the condition as “basically a fear or aversion to colors.”
“Personally, I just don’t like it at all and I feel uncomfortable,” he added.
The experts at the Cleveland Clinic explained the condition in more detail.
“Most people with this disorder have an extreme aversion to one or two specific colors – or they are just afraid of bright colors,” they clarified.
“People with chromophobia experience severe anxiety or panic attacks when they see a color they are afraid of.”
Anto described stepping out into a world of bright colors as “the same feeling people get on an airplane when they’re afraid of flying.”
He gave his followers a quick glimpse into his bedroom, including the black, white and grey rugs lined up next to his bed.
He even opened his closet door to show off his “completely monochromatic wardrobe.”
To prove that he wasn’t just using a filter, Anto placed a bright orange box on his bed.
His followers shared their thoughts on the unique setup in the comments section.
“The way your room looks is really impressive!!! I didn’t know there was such a thing as colorphobia until then,” wrote one viewer.
The top trend colors for interior design 2024
Homebase has announced the official trend colours for this year.
To predict the top colors of 2024, Homebase used sales data to analyze five colors that have seen a huge increase in popularity among customers.
Copper, pink and black are expected to be the hottest colours on Brits’ walls this year, and there are a surprising number of terracotta colour schemes seen in bathrooms.
The five top trend colors for 2024 are:
- Copper (+57%)
- Pink (+38%)
- Black (+34%)
- Green (+29%)
- Orange (+27%)
Copper has replaced rose gold, red is the new magnolia, and the British are also going bold by painting their walls completely black.
Green is always a popular color, but the shade “Fresh Herb” – a versatile, pale gray-green – is ending up in the shopping carts of hundreds of customers.
Terracotta is now on the rise: “Frosted Papaya”, a peachy-orange shade that dominates bathrooms.
“This is so 1975 fan at its core, 2014,” joked another TikTok user.
“I think what’s most convincing is the lack of warm lighting. It makes the place seem much less yellow and colorful,” one person noted.
Another viewer jokingly compared the room to the “gray magic in Halloweentown.”
“This is actually a form of torture,” wrote one follower.
“Are you perhaps a victim of the sad beige baby aesthetic?” asked another person.
