US citizen sues Hard Rock Hotel for 0,000 after falling out of golf cart

An American woman has sued the Hard Rock Cafe & Hotel in the Dominican Republic for half a million dollars after she fell out of a golf cart and injured herself, according to a report in NYPost.

The woman, identified as Taylor O’Leary, a resident of Brooklyn, New York, said she fell out of the stroller, whose seat was slippery and wet. The incident occurred in July 2022 and resulted in numerous, unspecified injuries, according to a filing in federal court in Brooklyn.

O’Leary said she was a guest at the hotel when she was injured in the accident, suggesting that the hotel and its corporate owner, Hard Rock Café International, are liable for damages.

The 27-year-old was at the Hard Rock Gold Club in Punta Cana, whose 18-hole golf course was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus. The green fee is $300.

The five-star luxury resort on Macao’s beautiful beach regularly hosts pop icons such as Shakira, Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey, who like to relax here.

Demanding compensation for such incidents is nothing new in the United States. Last year, a jury in a South Florida court awarded the family of a little girl $800,000 in damages after she suffered second-degree burns in 2019 when a piping hot McDonald’s Chicken McNugget fell on her thigh.

The family was awarded $400,000 for the suffering and emotional anguish endured over the past four years, as well as $400,000 for the future.

The incident occurred in August 2019 when Philana Holmes went to a McDonald’s in Tamarac with her son and daughter and purchased the Happy Meals. When she received the order, she was not warned that the food might be piping hot, so she immediately passed it to her daughter and son in the back seat and drove off.

Her daughter Olivia, a four-year-old autistic child at the time, began screaming and crying after the McNugget fell on her thigh.

When Holmes pulled into a nearby parking lot to help the child, she noticed the burn and took photos with her iPhone, including audio clips of the child’s screams, which were later presented as evidence in court.
