Isabela Merced talks about Hawkgirl’s LordTech suit; Sean Gunn hints at new version of Maxwell Lord

Superman has completed filming and at the beginning of summer We got a much from set photos when production arrived in Cleveland, Ohio.

Pretty much every major character was spotted by the paparazzi, including Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl. Their costumes sparked heated debates among fans, especially because the designs were significantly different from the comics.

Upon closer inspection, we noticed that they were all wearing outfits branded “LordTech,” suggesting that the heroes are members of Maxwell Lord’s Justice League International.

In conversation with the Alien: Romulus Premiere, Hawkgirl actress Isabela Merced said the hero’s suit is for “this specific timeline in history” Hopefully this means she could have a more comedic performance in a future story.

“Well, some pictures have leaked online,” Merced said about the set photos. “I think James knows what he wants, though, and this particular suit is for this particular time in history. I don’t know what else I can say, but I have to say the helmet was my absolute favorite. It’s so awesome. It’s so badass. It’s perfect.”

The Wrap has now caught up with a Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 Star Sean Gunn at FanExpo Chicago this weekend. The actor plays the DCU’s Weasel and GI robot, but will also have a non-computer-generated role as the (often villainous) Maxwell Lord.

We saw Pedro Pascal play an eccentric version of the villain in Wonder Woman 1984while Peter Facinelli played him in The CWs SupergirlFor Sean and his brother, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, this interpretation will stick more closely to the comics rather than what has previously been seen on screen.

“I can’t say too much about it. All I can say is that my brother James and I discussed what reference materials from the canon were relevant to my process. I love making my own music.”

Gunn added: “I can’t say much about it other than we talked about relevant materials and discussed the character in detail before I got into it. We didn’t reference any live performances of the character. It’s all based on written material with things we look at.”

In the DCU, we expect Lord to be introduced as a sponsor of Justice League International before going off the rails at some point (rather than immediately emerging as a villain).

Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
