“Coraline” is back in theaters as part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of the 2009 stop-motion hit, and the re-release has given a further boost to online sales of the original film.

Amazon is offering a limited edition steelbook version of “Coraline” for $20, and it’s selling fast. More than 700 copies have been sold in the last few weeks alone, according to the website. The Blu-ray edition of “Coraline” has also returned to the number one spot on Amazon’s kids and family movie charts.

Coraline – Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray in limited edition

With the steelbook release, you get the original Coraline film restored and upscaled to 4K Ultra HD quality, along with a new Dolby Atmos 7.1 audio mix. The two-disc Blu-ray set also includes deleted scenes, original featurettes, a “making of” special, and interviews with director Henry Selick and composter Bruno Coulais. Fans can also browse through storyboards from the film and view behind-the-scenes photos.

The original version of “Coraline” is also currently on sale at Amazon and Target. With this set you get the animated film on Blu-ray/DVD for under $12.

How to watch “Coraline” online

If you don’t have a Blu-ray player or prefer to stream the film, you can purchase Coraline as a digital download from Prime Video for $12. This deal gives you an HD version of the Oscar-nominated film that’s yours to keep after downloading. This version also includes bonus features.

You can also buy “Coraline” here from Apple for $12.99. There is currently no way to rent “Coraline.” The only way to watch the stop-motion film online is to order it through a VOD streaming service.

Directed by Henry Selick (known for “The Nightmare Before Christmas”), “Coraline” is based on the 2002 book of the same name by Neil Gaiman. Featuring the voices of Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher, “Coraline” received critical acclaim and was nominated for “Best Animated Feature” at the 2009 Academy Awards.

As production company Laika says in their release notes, “Coraline Jones is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door that leads to a world just like her own… only better! But when this fantastic adventure turns dangerous and her ‘other’ mother tries to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her ingenuity and bravery to get home.”
