ICv2: NYCC expands professional programming

These include ComicsPro, Lunar Programming on Wednesday, ICv2 Insider Talks on Thursday and more

New York Comic Con is expanding its professional programming to include closed sessions for professionals from ComicsPro, Lunar Distribution and Tiny Onion on Wednesday, the ICv2 Insider Talks for professionals on Thursday, the first day of the show’s full opening, and other professional programming throughout the show.

The Wednesday program, October 16, will be held from noon to 9 p.m. at the River Pavilion at the Javits Center and will include panel discussions, speed networking, exclusive comics, and private author signings. It is open to comic retailers, industry professionals, and NYCC sponsors.

Exclusive comics available in retail stores include The Department of Truth #25 – Exclusive to NYC retailersby Rosemary Valero-O’Connell. Program topics include “Get Your Store in the News: PR Basics” and “Working with Schools and Libraries.”

On Thursday afternoon, October 17, ICv2 will once again host the ICv2 Insider Talks and Comic Industry Social Hour at the River Pavilion at the Javits. This three-hour event is a great opportunity each year to meet, share, and network with other leaders in the comics and graphic novel industry. It begins with the Comic Industry Social Hour at 2:30 p.m. The Insider Talks, which will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., will include several engaging sessions in a fast-paced format. One of these sessions will include the ICv2 White Paper, which provides the latest information on numbers and trends in the comics, graphic novel, and manga markets. ICv2 will release information on other topics and how to register for the event soon.

On Thursday night, ReedPop will be hosting an Industry Mixer from 7-9pm sponsored by Comic Sketch Art and open to all professional, Artist Alley, publisher and retailer pass holders. There will also be free giveaways from Tiny Onion.

Other professional programs at the fair include professional development for librarians and educators, accredited programs from the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education and the New York City Department of Education in partnership with Lit-X, and the Harvey Awards ceremony, which will be held Friday evening.

Comic book retailers can get free Pro tickets for Wednesday and Thursday, and professionals will be pre-approved to purchase a Pro 4-day ticket. If you are a retailer with Lunar Distribution, registration is required.
