Verno House Budapest becomes part of the Vignette Collection • Hotel Designs

Vignette Collection properties are unique in their identity but united by a vision to offer a more authentic way of travelling. Verno House Budapest, Vignette Collection presents an urban oasis overlooking Freedom Square, recalling the idea born in 19th century Budapest that one can only truly appreciate all the modern features of a city if there is a nurturing natural environment to escape to from time to time. The hotel is designed as a sanctuary where guests can recharge before the next day’s explorations.

“We are delighted that Verno House will be opening in Budapest as the first IHG Vignette Collection hotel,” commented Tamás Nehéz, General Manager, Verno House Budapest, Vignette Collection. “The team has worked hard to ensure that the guest experience remains true to our heritage and offers an oasis of calm for those who wish to explore our capital. As part of the Vignette Collection, Verno House looks forward to welcoming our first guests and offering them meaningful and memorable stays at this unique hotel.”

Located between the Danube and Freedom Square, Verno House was a popular meeting place for artists, politicians, scientists and philanthropists in the late 19th century and has continued this role to this day. Guests are invited to discover the destination’s famous cultural center. The city’s most sought-after attractions are just minutes away. On the corner of Szabadság Street and 6 October Street, you will find a relaxing retreat.

There are several distinct characteristics that make a hotel a true Vignette Collection property. One such hallmark is the Memorable Rituals that celebrate each hotel’s unique identity. Verno’s Treat Bar – located in the lobby – evokes fond childhood memories. From legendary treats enjoyed for generations to innovative creations that honor Hungarian culinary heritage, guests are invited to sample an array of sweets and chocolates that showcase the traditional flavors of Hungary, offering a taste of indulgence and a moment of respite from the rhythm of the city.

As part of IHG’s ambitious Journey to Tomorrow plan to drive positive change for people, the planet and communities, each Vignette Collection hotel has its own A Means For Good initiative. United by a shared vision to support the communities in which they operate, each hotel partners with a local non-profit organisation to make a positive impact on local causes. Vignette Collection, available in the minibar, collaborates with Kék Madár Alapítvány (Blue Bird Foundation), who aim to promote workplace opportunities for people with disabilities with their BeSweet chocolate brand, developed by employees with disabilities.

Verno House Budapest, Vignette Collection aims to provide guests with a space where they can connect, breathe and thrive, and this idea is reflected in its design. Heavenly natural light, lush greenery, bold pops of color and a signature cedarwood scent create a sense of vibrant serenity, while public areas follow a palette of warm hues and neutral shades accentuated by abstract furniture and sculptural light installations. Books and board games encourage guests and locals alike to come together and develop a sense of community. The 48 stylishly decorated guest rooms are equipped with locally crafted BOTANIQ Collection amenities and offer impressive city views. Deluxe, Premium and Suite options are available with city or park views. The Corner Suites in particular feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Budapest’s signature Art Nouveau architecture.

Recommended by the Michelin Guide, the hotel’s 106-cover Flava Kitchen & More serves a menu of inventive North African, Latin American and Middle Eastern delicacies, as well as popular traditional dishes. To complement the chef-led gastronomic journey, an extensive selection of Hungarian and international wines, champagnes and cocktails is also available. Drawing inspiration from the world’s most popular culinary destinations, Flava Kitchen & More combines fresh, seasonal ingredients with masterful preparation techniques. In a vibrant ambience, guests are served both indoors and on the charming side-street terrace for alfresco dining. A live DJ enhances the Flava experience on weekends.
