You can now read Kindle books on a Peloton

If you’ve ever thought, “Man, I wish I could read while sweating on the Peloton,” we have good news for you. You can now access your Kindle library directly from the Peloton Bike, Bike Plus, Tread, or Tread Plus.

“No more awkwardly holding a book or Kindle e-reader while trying to maintain proper posture,” Amazon’s press release says, noting that you’ll be able to read everything from thrillers to nonfiction to cookbooks. The feature will be available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Austria and Germany.

To access your e-books, all you have to do is go to the Entertainment tab. The Kindle app on the Peloton also allows features like adjusting the font size, bookmarking, and jumping between chapters.

Granted, most people who read while exercising turn to audiobooks for obvious reasons. But the bigger trend is this trend towards Freedom to use Peloton equipment however you want. Many Peloton fans love the classes, but that doesn’t always apply to everyone in their household. Until now, Peloton tablets were restricted to Peloton content, limiting their appeal to non-fans — unless you were brave enough to void the warranty and jailbreak your smart bike. In November, Peloton introduced the Entertainment tab, which allowed users to stream TV shows, movies, and sports using beta versions of Netflix, YouTube TV, Disney Plus, and Max. The addition of Kindle compatibility is just another extension of that trend.
