Another pollster shows that the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris with a lead over the former Republican president Donald Trump.

Latest SoCal Strategies According to a national poll released a day after the Democratic National Convention began, the vice president is leading by two percentage points among registered voters (49-47%) and likely voters (50-48%) nationwide.

The SoCal Strategies poll, sponsored by On Point and Red Eagle Politics, was conducted on August 18 using the online panel Pollfish, which uses partner apps to contact respondents through random digital interaction. Respondents are asked a screening question about whether or not they are registered to vote. If not, the survey ends.

The poll found Harris doing exceptionally well among women and black voters, two blocs who favor her by double digits — 56% to 42% and 79% to 17%, respectively. Trump’s strongest demographic is white voters, who favor him by 9% — up from 13% in the last election — although he wins by 67% among voters who cite immigration as their most important issue.

Interestingly, SoCal Strategies says there may be evidence of “silent Harris voters.” According to the polling firm, 22% of voters who are reluctant to share their vote support Kamala Harris.

Florida’s Little League team tries to keep its title hopes alive

The team representing Florida in the Little League World Series will play tonight to stay in the tournament.

The team from Lake Mary faces a team from Staten Island, New York, and both teams are facing elimination (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Lake Mary, the Southeast regional champion, won its first two games in the LLWS, defeating the Midwest champion 2-1 and the Northeast champion 6-1. But a 4-1 loss to the Southwest champion on Monday forced Lake Mary into the elimination round.

No Florida team has ever won the Little League World Series championship. To advance to the championship round, Lake Mary must beat Staten Island and win three more undefeated games to face the international champions, who are playing their side of the tournament at the same time.

The last five championships have been won by American teams, including last season when a team from El Segundo, California, took the title. Before that, four of the previous five titles were won by international teams, three of them by teams from Tokyo.

Taiwan has won 17 Little League World Series championships, Japan 11 and Southern California seven titles, more than any other state (or region of state) in the history of the event.
