Crayola Experience and professional artist spread color and kindness for National Chalk the Walk Day | Lehigh Valley Regional News

EASTON, Pa. – The sidewalk outside the Crayola Experience looked quite colorful Tuesday. Kids of all ages came and enjoyed old-fashioned chalk art on National Chalk the Walk Day.

“The goal is simply to radiate kindness to the community,” said Abby Dentner, marketing manager at Crayola Experience.

They were supported by Philadelphia-based artist Mario Zucca.

“I think it’s always good to be creative,” Zucca said. “Sidewalk chalk is great because you can just go out and draw and it doesn’t matter what you draw because you can just wash it off.”

It’s not every day that you get to create something alongside a nationally known artist.

“Mario has taught the kids all his techniques,” Dentner said. “He helps them with design and teaches them new things that even we here at Crayola don’t know.”

And all this while creating his own masterpiece, which took him about four hours to complete.

“The message is ‘Colors of Kindness’ and it’s basically just a box of crayons. Everything starts from there and the kids can participate,” Zucca said.

Zucca hopes this will encourage her to pick up the chalk regularly and get creative.

He said: “It’s just fun and good exercise too.”
