It’s been a while since the last proper Indiana Jones game, but that streak ends this December thanks to Bethesda and MachineGames. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 9, 2024 – and then PS5 in 2025 – and pre-orders are open now. Well, they’re open for Xbox and PC. If you’re waiting for the game to come to PS5, you’ll probably have to wait until there’s a firm release date, which may not be announced until after the initial release.
Since The Great Circle is releasing on Game Pass’s day one, things are going to get a little chaotic with pre-orders. Especially if you plan on playing with Game Pass but want the extras of the premium edition. The good news is that you can upgrade to the more expensive edition even if you plan on playing with Game Pass. If you play with Game Pass, you’ll also get the pre-order bonus – The Last Crusade Pack, which includes the suit Indy wears and the lion tamer whip he uses in the third movie.

MachineGames is developing a first-person action adventure with a lot of potential.
If you don’t have Game Pass or want to own your copy of The Great Circle, there’s the standard edition. No extra content, just your copy of the game, which includes the same pre-order bonus you get for playing with Game Pass, provided you place your order before release day. Physical copies are also available at Best Buy via the link in the box below. They’ll likely pop up elsewhere in the coming days and weeks, too.

Standard edition
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Machinegames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. When an artifact is stolen from Indy, he follows the trail to the Vatican – where he begins to unravel a much bigger mystery.

Okay, here comes the complicated part, as promised. Many of you have Game Pass, and therefore get the standard edition of The Great Circle in your subscription on day one, but want the extras included in the premium edition. If that’s you, there’s the Premium Upgrade. For $34.99, you get the extras included in the premium edition without having to buy the full game. I’m not sure why it costs $5 more than the difference between the standard and premium editions. You can work that out with Bethesda and Xbox.
Premium Upgrade
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
If you plan on playing with Game Pass or have already pre-ordered the Standard Edition, ordering the Premium upgrade will still allow you to get all the additional content included in the Premium Edition. Early access, in-game goodies for the Temple of Doom, and access to the first story DLC after launch.
