What caused the fire at the Dallas Cowboys training hotel? Were there any injuries?

On Tuesday, A fire broke out at the River Ridge Residence Inn, where the Dallas Cowboys football team stays. during their training camp in Oxnard, California.

Fortunately, There were no injuries as the entire team was out of the hotel at the time, preparing for the late afternoon walk-through. The only guests currently staying at the hotel are Cowboys players and staff (no member of the public is allowed in during the Cowboys’ training camp), so no guests were in the building when the fire started.

What caused the fire?

The fire started in one of the guest rooms, which was unoccupied, and was contained to that room. The Oxnard Fire Department and Police Department quickly arrived and extinguished the fire. What exactly caused the fire is currently unclearbut it seems to have been an accident.

Dallas held its first training camp in Oxnard in 2004 and has held it there annually since 2012. The fire did not cause any disruption to the Cowboys’ training schedule. Their last training session in protective gear will be this morning (Wednesday) and on Thursday they will return to Texas to finish training camp at The Star in Frisco.

The Cowboys host the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday for their final preseason game at AT&T Stadium.
