From Camaros to Cobras: American pushrod power at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion

Monterey Car Week isn’t just about imported exotics. You can find beautiful domestic cars at many locations across the peninsula, even at the exclusive Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. American V-8 muscle cars shine, however, at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, where Trans-Am cars from Chevrolet, Ford, Pontiac, AMC and Dodge rev up a small-block symphony and Corvettes and Monzas pit their bumpers against flat-six engines from Porsche. There were also plenty of big V-8s making noise as 427 Corvettes thundered down the Corkscrew and battled Cobras. We’ll get into the technical details of some of these racing engines later. For now, enjoy some of our favorite shots from historic Laguna Seca.
