Travis Scott arrested after violent confrontation in Paris

Houston-born rapper Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was arrested in Paris on Friday morning after a violent altercation with a security guard outside the five-star George V hotel next to Avenue Champs Elysees. Contacted by diversityA hotel spokesman declined to comment, saying “investigations are ongoing.”

According to local media reports, Scott and one of his bodyguards were fighting near the hotel when the security guard intervened, prompting Scott to respond with violence. Police were then called to the hotel at 5 a.m. local time to break up the fight.

The Paris public prosecutor’s office announced that criminal investigations had been launched.

Scott was in Paris to compete in this year’s Olympics and was seen at the U.S. men’s basketball team’s semifinal game against Serbia on Thursday night.

Local media reports that several people present at the altercation stated that Scott was heavily intoxicated at the time of the argument and refused to take a breathalyzer test.

It’s been a difficult summer for Scott, who was arrested in June for drunkenness and trespassing following an altercation on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. He was released on bail after paying a $500 fine for drunkenness and trespassing and a $150 citation for trespassing.

Scott’s Paris trip comes during a break from his Circus Maximus tour, which recently concluded its European leg in Portugal and is scheduled to continue in Santiago, Chile, on September 7 before concluding in Las Vegas in November.
