Most college football experts seem to be just guessing whether Notre Dame will make the 2024 College Football Playoffs.
Kelley Ford, however, is a little different. He delves a little deeper into college football and uses that knowledge to make predictions about how well a team needs to play throughout the season for the most ideal scenarios to occur.
To that end, Ford has released his playoff prediction. He projects the Irish to have a 10-2 regular season record, but for him, two losses is just enough to make them the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. He explained his reasoning when he posted his prediction on social media:

You can examine Ford’s findings in more detail here. For those who don’t want to read them, he’s essentially saying the Irish can only afford one loss to make the playoffs, and he’s giving them a 40 percent chance of securing an at-large bid, the only way they can get in as an independent.
Call it a harsh assessment if you want, but sometimes your findings are confirmed by research.
