“We made the mistakes so you don’t have to”

New Delhi: Influencer and actress Kusha Kapila made headlines last year after her divorce from husband Zorawar Ahluwalia. For those unaware, Kusha rose to internet fame through her comedy videos, which often featured her ex-husband. However, in a recent interview, Kusha offered a new viewpoint and urged content makers not to share her personal life online.

In an interview with Hauterrfly, Kusha Kapila was asked what advice she would give to newbies or existing content creators. To this, she replied, “Don’t share your personal life. If you don’t want to base your content around it, don’t. If your main job is doing different kinds of comedy sketches, playing characters, limit yourself to that. That’s all you need. Your talent will take you anywhere.”

Kusha added that her actions as a first generation of creators had unintended consequences. She presented herself as a “roadmap” for others to follow. “I think we were also so much the first generation of creators that we didn’t see the consequences. So let’s be the girl with the roadmap! We made the mistake, so you don’t have to make it. So don’t make it,” Kusha said.

Kusha Kapila on the concept of “settling down”

In the same conversation, Kusha shared what she needs to “unlearn” about the concept of settling down. She said, “I think the most important thing I’m unlearning is that settling down is nothing. It’s all thoughts, ideas and constructs. You settle down, whatever you define for yourself, and that’s a good thing.”

Kusha soon realised that she had to rely on herself. She added, “Especially when I moved to Mumbai, I thought I would need people to get through this transition. I needed myself. Then I had to find out what I liked and that was enough. I think the best friend I have found in the last year is myself. I am so happy because I have got to know myself so well and I am happy that I always have a friend by my side.”

Professionally, Kusha was last seen in “Ishq Vishk Rebound” and “Thank You for Coming”.
