30 HILARIOUS reactions to JD Vance’s embarrassing donut order

Republican candidate for vice president JD Vance attempted to stage a photo shoot that went so wrong that the entire Internet is mocking him for his utter clumsiness.

On Thursday, Vance stopped to buy some doughnuts at Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta, Georgia – a swing state that Donald Trump must win to win the presidency – but he was so unbearably awkward that he exposed himself to an avalanche of ridicule.

In the now-viral video, Trump’s running mate tries to strike up a conversation with the staff by saying the “zoo has come to town” and then asking how many doughnuts he should order. I don’t know, JD, maybe a dozen? From there, the scene gets even more awkward when a staff member asks not to film her, and Vance has to say, “She doesn’t want to be filmed, guys, so just cut her out of everything. I appreciate that, ma’am.”

But if you thought the awkwardness was over, you’re totally wrong. The Ohio Republican (or maybe three aliens in trench coats) introduces himself to the doughnut shop employee who asked not to be on camera: “I’m JD Vance, I’m running for vice president.” She replies categorically: “OK…” Ouch!

Vance’s advance team apparently treated him poorly by failing to locate a doughnut shop whose employees would be open to talking to him. Although given his personality, we wouldn’t be surprised if that shop didn’t exist – the man is a black hole in terms of charisma. Contrast this interaction with Tim Walz visiting Nebraska and stopping at a Runza, where he clearly knows the restaurant and the local cuisine and interacts with the people like a human, not an alien being unfamiliar with Earthlings.

Next, Vance tries to pick the donuts he wants, and it’s so painfully awkward that someone at X said it was worse than the embarrassing “Scott’s Tots” episode of The office“I see a lot of frosting, some sprinkles, some of those cinnamon rolls. Just anything that makes sense,” says Vance. Homer Simpson would be ashamed.

Trying to capitalize on American culture by eating at quaint mom-and-pop shops is a staple of any presidential campaign, but Vance can’t even get that right. The entire internet has come together to condemn him for his awkwardness, his bizarre doughnut-ordering skills, his terrible haircut, and, for heaven’s sake, people have cracked the odd damn couch joke.
