The best all-in matches to watch

Swerve Strickland vs Bryan Danielson

Danielson, who has stated that he is currently working without a contract, is putting his career on the line to win his first title since joining AEW in 2021.

Strickland will attempt to successfully defend the title for the third consecutive pay-per-view, having previously defeated Christian Cage at Double or Nothing and Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door.

The buildup to this match started with Danielson needing to find his strength again. He has been making promos about how his body is deteriorating and that he will probably need neck surgery at some point.

Strickland went full villain style for this match, especially after destroying Wheeler Yuta in a one-on-one match before attacking Danielson from behind at the conclusion of the August 14 episode of Dynamite.

The most interesting thing about this fight is that Danielson is putting his career on the line. He has spoken for the past year about giving up his full-time career when his current contract expires.

Although Danielson has made it clear that he will likely never retire from the ring completely as long as he is still physically able to wrestle, the idea of his full-time career ending on the biggest show of the year would be a great send-off for one of the best to ever step into the ring.

Of course, given the major voices pushing for Danielson to be done after this show, it would be no surprise if he defeated Strickland.

Strickland has done a fantastic job as champion – highlighted by his win over Ospreay – and could rise even higher with a victory over the American Dragon. But it could also be a finish with a win for Danielson that sets up a rematch with Swerve getting his revenge either at All Out in two weeks or at WrestleDream on October 12.

The most anticipated match of the show is undoubtedly the second showdown between MJF and Will Ospreay for the newly created AEW American Championship.

It will be hard to top their first match on July 17, which lasted nearly 60 minutes before MJF used the dynamite diamond ring to get the pinfall.

MJF makes sure he gets the biggest heel reaction on the show by positioning himself as the true American hero facing the local hero in London.

The main storyline of this match revolves around whether Ospreay will bring back the Tiger Driver 91 for the first time since his victory over Danielson at Dynasty in April.

Ospreay is unlikely to lose in his first all-in as a full-time AEW star. He defeated Chris Jericho at the inaugural event last year when he was still under contract with New Japan.

However, one could argue that MJF shouldn’t lose at this point if the goal is to build him up for an eventual world title fight.

An Ospreay win would also open the door for a possible third fight between the two at some point, but we know the next challenger for the American title is already decided as Pac takes his chance at All Out on September 7th.

Mercedes Moné vs Britt Baker

Both women’s title matches on the show were very well built and Mariah May seemed ready for her crowning moment against Toni Storm.

But the TBS title fight between Mercedes Moné and Britt Baker is a crucial showdown for both women.

Moné’s run in AEW has been up and down, but she’s been on a roll since turning completely heel in recent weeks. Baker returned after an 11-month absence at Forbidden Door after the CEO defeated Stephanie Vaquer to win the New Japan Women’s Championship.

DMD has shown some ring rust since her return to televised fights, but given the spotlight, this will be the biggest test of her career yet.

Baker needs the win here to gain more credibility after such a long break. Moné has the added advantage of having Kamille by her side. Kamille’s beating of Baker in the last episode of Collision opens the door for the Doctor to exact her revenge at Wembley Stadium.

Mercedes has never lost in AEW and is 5-0. This seems like the right time for her to defeat Baker and keep the feud going.
