It will soon be easier to take a quick trip to the Bahamas.

Western Air, the largest private airline in the Bahamas, will offer daily direct flights between Fort Lauderdale, Freeport and Grand Bahama starting Thursday, August 22. Western already had a direct flight from Fort Lauderdale and Nassau.

“With a short flight time of approximately 25 minutes, Western Air’s direct flights offer both frequency and easy accessibility for Grand Bahama and South Florida residents looking to enjoy a nearby and affordable getaway,” the airline said in a press release.

The announcement comes amid numerous other new routes announced this week, including new Breeze flights to Daytona Beach, Vero Beach and Sarasota, as well as an Avelo Airlines flight from Sarasota to Philadelphia.

Western offers open tickets valid for six months (international flights) or one year (Bahamas domestic flights) with no fees or cancellation charges. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
