Havre High School to host two Blue/White scrimmages – Hi-Line Today

On Saturday, two Havre High programs will be presented for those who want to watch the Blue Ponies all day long. The girls volleyball teams and the football team will compete in the annual Blue/White Scrimmage. The head coaches of both programs spoke with New Media Broadcasters ahead of their preparations.

For volleyball coach Cassie Krueger and her coaching staff, this exhibition match offers the opportunity to look at the team lineups of three different teams from bottom to top.

“I think it’s about the expectations we have,” Krueger said. “It’s also a good time to evaluate our teams and see where they stand. Of course, every team is at a different level.”

“I have a very good feeling about each of our teams, from the C team to the varsity team, and they have a very good foundation to start the season,” Krueger continued.

Havre football coach Jake Eldridge sees his team’s appearance as an opportunity to figure out what gaps need to be filled for the upcoming season. He mentioned that playing in front of a crowd will improve the team’s performance after practicing against each other without an audience for the past few months.

“First of all, it’s just a great opportunity for the kids to get out there and compete in a game-like environment,” Eldridge said. “And secondly, we see where they are and how much they’ve learned and retained here at camp.”

“I’m really most excited to see who’s there and who’s coming in and how we can replace some of the guys that we lost to graduation and how they’re going to fill those roles,” Eldridge continued. “Not necessarily who the starters are and stuff like that, but what depth we can develop and do we have enough players at all the different positions.”

First up is the Blue Pony Volleyball Team, which will introduce all of the players who made it to the C team, junior team, and varsity teams. Games will begin at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Blue Pony Corral. The Havre Football Team will begin its Blue/White Scrimmage later that evening at 7 p.m. at the Blue Pony Stadium.
