GKIDS to Show The Colors Within and Ghost Cat Anzu Movies in Theaters This Winter – News

GKIDS announced during its AnimeNYC industry panel on Saturday that Science SARU And Naoko Yamada‘S The colors inside (Kimi no Iro) anime feature film and Shinei Animation and France Miyu ProductionsGhost Cat Anzu 2D animated film, will be released in North American theaters in winter 2024.

The colors inside opens in Japan on August 30th. GKIDS has acquired the film for North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. Anime Ltd. has acquired the film for Europe. PLAION PICTURES will serve the Italian and German speaking areas and charade will lead sales for the rest of Europe, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

The story revolves around Totsuko, a high school student who can see the “colors” of emotions in people’s hearts. She attends a mission school in Nagasaki. To protect her friends and family from dark feelings, she worries, interprets situations, and even lies to smooth things over. In an antique shop at the end of town, she meets a beautiful woman with an incredibly beautiful complexion and a music-loving boy who is trying to put together a band. The story is about these three sensitive people who come together to play in a band.

Yamada directed the film Science SARU. History Inc. is named as planner and producer. Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Girls and Panzer, Ride your wave, Violet Evergarden) wrote the screenplay and Kensuke Uschio (Space Dandy, A silent voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Chainsaw Man) composed the music. DaisukeRichard designed the original characters and Takashi Kojima designed the characters and also directed the animation.

The film premiered in June this year at this year’s Annecy International Film Festival. It also won the Best Animated Film award at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival in June.

The Ghost Cat Anzu The film was released in Japan on July 19.

The main actors:

Yoshioka Mutsu And Shohei Uno also contribute voices.

The actors also acted as characters in footage that served as a template for the characters’ animation. Their spoken lines while recording their movements were also used in the film.

Yoko Kuno And Nobuhiro Yamashita direct the film and Shinji Imaoka writes his screenplay. The film is 90 minutes long and uses mixed animation techniques that combine 2D digital animation with rotoscoping. Yoko Kuno is the character designer, Julien De Man is Art Director and Color Key Artist, Namiko Ishidate And Yukie Nakauchi are the animation directors and Suzuki boss composes the music.

Chiaki Sato (ASAB) performs the title song “Matatabi”.

The film was shown as a work-in-progress at the Annecy Animation Festival in June 2023. The Paris-based charade International sales are handled by the company. GKIDS has acquired the North American rights to the film.

Miyu Productions describes the story of the film:

11-year-old Karin is abandoned by her father in the house of her grandfather, a monk in a small Japanese provincial town. Her grandfather asks Anzu, his cheerful and helpful, if somewhat capricious ghost cat, to look after her. The clash of their strong characters causes sparks to fly, at least at the beginning…

Kodansha published the one-volume Bakeneko Anzu-chan Manga in 2007.
