The film tells the backstory of the cult figure Logan, from the origin of his mutation to his dark past. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a bloody journey into his troubled life. After escaping his childhood trauma, Logan finds peace with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox when Victor attacks and mercilessly kills her. Despite his anger, Logan cannot kill Victor as they are both immortal. The plot intensifies when Logan’s thirst for revenge drives him to join the Weapon X program, where he meets Wade Wilson.

Perhaps the worst version of the character Ryan Reynolds has ever played, considering his mouth was sewn shut, Deadpool’s debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a terrible first impression for comic book fans. Even Green Lantern would have laughed at the actor’s misery. Without the red suit, Ryan Reynolds had to use his epic action skills to bring the infamous final battle in the film to life. The biggest disappointment for fans of the already poorly made film was the heavily changed character of Deadpool. From the cyclops eyes to the teleportation powers, the character had become an inside joke for the fanbase.

Deadpool (2016)

Wade Wilson’s life is turned upside down after he learns he has cancer. After giving up hope, he encounters the evil scientist Ajax, who turns him into an experiment under the pretense of being able to cure him. The experiment leaves Wade Wilson disfigured, but also immortal and with extraordinary healing powers. Although he is granted a second chance at life, Wade Wilson decides to seek revenge on Ajax.

Tim Miller’s directorial work was a turning point not only for the witty superhero, but also for Marvel. It is set in the 20th century by Fox X-Men Franchise, fans did not have great expectations for the film given the massively poor reception of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But Ryan Reynolds has undoubtedly realized his vision.

The makers let it rip by Dead Pool all the constraints of censorship and good old child-friendly Marvel. They let him revel in his vulgar glory, which led to Dead Pool and became the fourth highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

Wade Wilson wallows in the darkness after Vanessa’s death. The fact that he can’t even kill himself due to his healing powers only adds to his torment. As the saga of protecting Russell Collins (a young mutant) continues, Deadpool forms his own mutant team to save Russell from a time-traveling mercenary.

Deadpool 2, the second installment in the series does not disappoint. It is full of Deadpool’s typical wry satirical humor and some meta references to satisfy comic book fans. The bloody action is top-notch, as expected from Wade Wilson. However, the film also surprises fans with several emotional elements. The addition of Domino and Cable in Deadpool 2 is just great.

Pro tip: Do NOT miss the end credits scene of Deadpool 2.

Deadpool and Wolverine (2024)

In the third film, we see Deadpool celebrating with his X-Force friends and Vanessa when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) shows up to recruit him. He is then given a mission to save the world by finding the “Anchor Being” aka Wolverine. In a twisted game of fate, the loudmouthed hero is banished to “The Void” with Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine is the third and final part of the Dead Pool series. And with this film, Wade Wilson officially becomes a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the film takes place directly after the end of Deadpool 2it is important to at least observe Deadpool 2 before Deadpool and Wolverine.

The authors of the Dead Pool Films, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, wrote this hilarious short film directed by David Leitch. It served as a teaser for the sequel starring Ryan Reynolds and successfully created hype for the film without actually giving anything away. The intelligent black comedy was received positively, as many compared it to the Saturday Night Live Sketches.
