Vietnam’s Prime Minister: Improving people’s lives is key to protecting security and order

LAM DONG (Vietnam News/ANN): The essence of ensuring security and order is to constantly improve people’s spiritual and material lives while leaving no one behind, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said while chairing a conference on ensuring security and order in the Central Highlands region held in Lam Dong’s Da Lat city on Sunday.

The Prime Minister stressed the strategic importance of the Central Plateau region for the country’s economy, politics, security, defense and ecological environment, and stressed that the Party and the state have paid great attention to ensuring the stable development of this region.

He noted that many resolutions and conclusions have been issued to promote growth in the region, including Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on orientations for socio-economic development and defense security protection in the Central Highlands region until 2030 with a vision until 2045, as well as Prime Minister’s Decision No. 104 of December 8, 2023 on launching a project to promote the region’s socio-economic growth in conjunction with defense security protection in the region.

A regional council has been convened to assist the Prime Minister in addressing important and cross-sectoral work related to regional connectivity and the sustainable development of the Central Highlands region, he said.

In order to lay a solid foundation for the development of the Central Highlands in line with its potential and advantages, consolidate its cultural identity and improve the material and spiritual life of the local people, Prime Minister Chinh called on ministries, sectors and localities to regard ensuring security and order as an important, urgent, regular and long-term task and responsibility of the entire political system and the entire people, with the heads of Party committees and authorities bearing the first, most important and comprehensive responsibility.

The Prime Minister stressed that enabling people to live prosperously is crucial to ensuring security and order in the region. He pointed to six main tasks: development is the resource and inspiration for maintaining security and order, and ensuring security and order paves the way for socio-economic growth.

It is necessary to resolve all issues related to housing and farmland, while ensuring that no local household is forced to live in makeshift or dilapidated housing. Illegal migration must also be stopped and livelihoods and jobs created for ethnic minorities. Social welfare should not be exchanged for mere economic development. Rather, concrete solutions must be developed to improve people’s living conditions, he said.

The Prime Minister made it clear that the political system must be pure and strong, have close ties with the people, serve the people and avoid surprises in terms of the security order right at the grassroots level.

He called on regional municipalities to take drastic measures to meet all major tasks with all determination, while solving latent problems from the beginning and at the grassroots level, improving the efficiency of state administration in security and law and order issues to build a people-based defense position, and strengthening international cooperation to combat crime and enhance security.

In the spirit of “the whole country supports the Central Highlands, the Central Highlands overcomes difficulties and rises together with the nation,” the Prime Minister said he believes the region will make breakthroughs in socio-economic development in the coming period while ensuring security order. – Vietnam News/ANN
