Lana Del Rey’s performance in Reading and Leeds was cancelled, the festival apologizes

During her performance at Reading & Leeds Festival 2024 on Saturday, Lana Del Rey’s microphone was turned off, unexpectedly cutting her set short last night (August 24).

As The Hollywood Reporter Del Rey was headlining at Reading on Richfield Avenue when the fireworks started toward the end of her set. At that point, her sound went out – before she had finished performing. Del Rey spent the last five minutes of her stage time watching the fireworks.

Fan reports on social media suggest that the premature end came at the beginning of “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – But I Have It,” the final track on her 2019 album. Norman damn Rockwell.

The British festival published a short statement about the technical problem from the previous evening in an Instagram story on Sunday.

“Due to an error by the production team in Reading, we inadvertently cut Lana Del Rey’s incredible performance short by five minutes. We unreservedly apologise to Lana and her fans,” the statement said.

Del Rey performed at the Leeds leg of the festival at Bramham Park on Sunday night.

The festival appearance marks the end of the singer’s tour in support of 2023 Did you know there is a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard?.

Next up should be a new album lassowhich she recently spoke about in fashion: “All of my albums are somehow rooted in Americana, unless it’s an album like honeymoon that has a jazz flair to it, so I don’t think it’s going to be a huge departure… If anything, it’s just going to be a little bit lighter lyrically and more pointed in the direction of classic country, American or Southern Gothic production – which, as I said, is already true of so many of my songs.”
