Students report that power has been restored to the West Campus complex

Students at a West Campus apartment complex say their power is back on after a frustrating outage during move-in weekend.

FOX 7 Austin’s Tan Radford spoke to residents of the Rise at West Campus Apartments on Saturday who told her they woke up in the morning without power or air conditioning.

In addition, there was no running water and the elevators were out of service.

“I got an email saying the power was out and our elevators weren’t working. About an hour later, after reading the email, I realized the water wasn’t working,” resident Zarina Ards said Saturday.

In a statement to FOX 7 Austin on Saturday, the complex said it “experienced an issue with air conditioning (on Saturday) due to a power outage at our West Campus property in Austin.” The complex also said it offered alternative housing while the issue was resolved.

FOX 7 Austin went to the complex on Sunday and spoke with students who were just moving in for the fall semester at the University of Texas at Austin. Those students reported that power had been restored.

FOX 7 Austin also contacted the apartment complex on Sunday but has not yet received a response.
