DJ Khaled’s jet hangar uses luxurious, minimalist colors…

Good design is not static. It should reflect the interests and tastes of the people who inhabit the space. Celebrated interior designer Aurélie Bard put this philosophy at the heart when she set out to redesign the private reception room in producer DJ Khaled’s private airplane hangar. The results are stunning.

Khaled’s space is a masterpiece of decorating with neutral colors in a luxurious, minimalist way. A cream sofa is the focal point of the room with gold accents that echo the metallic colors of the brass coffee tables and the entire room. White walls are given a luxurious feel by a marble top with the manufacturer’s signature saying. Coffee table accessories from notable luxury brands underscore the high-end energy that Bard wanted to capture with this space.

Bard, the head designer at Haute Designs, tells Houses & Gardens exclusive: “When designing DJ Khaled’s private jet hangar, it was important to me to create a space that reflected his unique personality and lifestyle. Key considerations included functionality, luxury and personalization. Given the nature of the hangar, I focused on seamlessly integrating high-quality design elements with practical necessities to ensure a harmonious blend of aesthetics and utility. I also considered the dual use of the space as a storage space for his jets and event venue, which required a flexible layout that accommodates both needs. Soundproofing and acoustics were also critical, given DJ Khaled’s passion for music, to ensure the space could serve as an intimate venue.” It’s a luxurious living room, music room and aircraft reception room all in one.

She continues: “For DJ Khaled’s private jet hangar, I wanted a look that exudes elegance and exclusivity while reflecting his vibrant personality. I envisioned a space that combines modern elegance with expressive elements. To achieve this, I used a simple, monochromatic color palette with accents of gold and rich textures to create a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere.”

Each piece of furniture was carefully chosen in this design. “The decor included custom-made furniture with plush seating and metallic finishes that reflect a mix of contemporary and opulent style. I selected artwork that resonated with DJ Khaled’s energetic spirit, featuring dynamic shapes and bright colors. The use of high-quality materials, such as marble decoration and intricate lighting fixtures, added to the grandeur of the space,” says Bard.

“To enhance the hangar’s multifunctionality, I designed modular elements that can be easily reconfigured, allowing for a smooth transition between private moments and large celebrations,” she adds. “The result is a space that not only meets the functional needs of a private jet hangar, but also serves as a luxurious, personalized environment that perfectly matches DJ Khaled’s brand and lifestyle.”

The space is the epitome of how to make a home look expensive. Bard explains, “I believe the essence of luxury lies in the details. To capture the pinnacle of luxury design and innovation in this project, I began developing a vision that balanced timeless elegance with contemporary sophistication. The goal was to create an immersive experience that exudes opulence and exclusivity while providing a seamless blend of comfort and style.”

She adds: “To achieve this luxurious feel, I carefully selected the finest materials, such as polished marble, rich woods and bespoke textiles, which immediately convey a sense of quality and sophistication. Using a rich but understated colour palette with touches of gold and dark hues further enhances the sense of grandeur. I paid particular attention to the lighting, using bespoke light fittings that not only illuminate but also serve as works of art, adding a dramatic flair to the space.”

Additionally, the layout is critical to the luxurious feel of the space. Bard says, “The layout was designed to maximize flow and functionality while maintaining an aura of elegance. I incorporated cutting-edge technology and innovative design solutions, seamlessly integrating modern amenities into the aesthetic without compromising the luxurious feel. The bespoke furniture and select artwork were chosen to reflect both the client’s sophistication and unique personality, making the space truly one of a kind.

If you want to recreate the look, you’re in luck. Bard advises, “For readers who want to inject a similar energy into their own spaces, I advise emphasizing authenticity and attention to detail. Pay attention to the size and proportions of your furniture and decor. A balanced space with thoughtfully arranged elements can create a sense of harmony and flow, making the room feel both inviting and sophisticated. Lighting can dramatically transform a space. Use a combination of ambient, task and accent lighting to create depth and mood. Consider statement lighting fixtures that can serve as focal points and enhance the overall design.”

Bard concludes: “Ultimately, luxury is about comfort and feeling at home. Make sure the design reflects your lifestyle and supports your everyday life. A luxurious space should not only be beautiful, but also functional and comfortable.” We couldn’t say it better ourselves.
