  • The remnants of former Hurricane Debby are moving north through the three states on Friday, bringing heavy rains, severe storms and strong winds
  • A tornado warning was issued for much of the New York City metropolitan area until 10 p.m. Friday, including Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties in New Jersey and Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties in New York.
  • The strongest winds and rain are expected Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, with travel conditions likely to be worst Friday evening during rush hour.
  • Flash floods, tornadoes, high surf and destructive straight-line winds are possible.
  • A better weekend forecast is expected once Debby leaves the area on Saturday

The effects of post-tropical depression Debby will move through the tri-state region on Friday, bringing the threat of tornadoes to New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

A tornado warning was issued for large parts of the three states until 2 p.m. Friday. A tornado warning has no longer been in effect for New York City since 2 p.m.
